Singers, actors, dancers and instrumentalists will gather this June in the Medieval hilltop village of Groznjan, Croatia, for this year's International Vocal Arts Workshop. Half an hour from the Adriatic coast and two hours from Venice, Groznjan has been a gathering place for artists and home to the Jeunesses Musicales International Cultural Centre for over 30 years.
The program is devoted to solo as well as group work through coaching, masterclasses, and workshops on movement, dance, acting and visual arts. An emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary collaboration. We present three performances: a vocal program in Groznjan's concert hall, a street theater performance through its cobbled streets, and a carnival parade during Groznjan's annual festival. This year we also plan to take our programs on tour to surrounding villages in Croatia and Slovenia.
Applicants of all ages are welcomed.
Read Jane McMahan's wonderful article about Groznjan, published in the winter 2008 issue of Slavic and East European Performance.
New: It will now be possible to take this program as a six credit accelerated course through the University of New Haven. Contact us for more information.
